Bucktail Tennis Downs CV on the Road 4-1
By Bees O’Brien
WESTFIELD- Bucktail tennis was in need of a solid win with playoff soon looming. On Monday night at Cowanesque Valley, the Lady Bucks would do just that by a 4-1 count against the Lady Indians.
Bucktail would sweep the singles. Eva Sockman would down CV’s Kylee Stone in a hard fought 6-1, 7-6. At number 2, it would be Bucktail’s McKenna Bissman picking up the 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Cowanesque’s Chelsea Wattles.
Lola English would pick up the Lady Bucks’ final singles win with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Danika Gardner.
In doubles, it would be the newly formed team of Matti Mason and Riley Salizzoni defeating the Lady Indians’ duo of Jewel Smith and Markenna Burdick 7-5, 7-6.
Bucktail’s Carrie Ditty and Iris Moore would fall to Lexi Fuhrer and Ellie Blackwell 7-6, 7-5 to give CV their lone point of the afternoon.
Bucktail improved to 6-3 on the season and will have a busy week ahead of themselves next week. They will begin a three-game home stand by hosting Towanda on Monday. They will keep things going at home against another NTL squad on Tuesday when the Lady Green Hornets of Wellsboro are set to swarm Farwell.
Wednesday Bucktail will get back into Mid Penn Conference action when they host Muncy.
