Central Mountain Tennis Battles But Falls to Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT – The Central Mountain girls tennis team faced a challenging matchup Monday as they visited Williamsport, competing without their No. 1 and No. 3 singles players. Despite the obstacles, the Wildcats put forth a strong effort, with many players stepping into unfamiliar roles.

In singles, Central Mountain’s Ellie Harry fought hard at No. 1 but fell to Williamsport’s Kayla Bloch, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2, Molly Dubbs started strong with a first-set win but ultimately dropped her match to Gabby McQuillen, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Emily Brinker was bested by Audrey Dincher in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles matches saw similar results as Central Mountain’s Audra Eaton and Kassie Williams teamed up at No. 1 doubles but fell 6-3, 6-0 to Eden Huff and Peyton Kelley of Williamsport. At No. 2 doubles, Leah Wian and Tess Akeley put up a good fight but were defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Maddy Lundy and Shyla Montoya.
