LHU Volleyball wraps up weekend at Crimson Hawk Classic

INDIANA– The Lock Haven volleyball team kicked off its weekend at the Crimson Hawk Classic, hosted by IUP, with a pair of non-conference matches against IUP and Aldelphi.

Lock Haven fell in both matches, 3-0.

Aldelphi Recap: 0-3, (21-25, 16-25, 13-25)

The Haven dropped three straight sets to West Virginia State on its opening match. The Bald Eagles best attacking set came in the first, where they scored 21 points and recorded 10 kills.

Olivia Cook led the offense with six digs.

Kelly Gaston dished out 19 assists to go with five digs and Madison Eckley added 11 digs.

Natalie Acevedo added nine digs and Evie Jane Rembold recorded five kills.

IUP Recap: 3-0, (24-26, 21-25, 18-25)

The Haven fell to PSAC West power IUP in the finale, 3-0.

Lock Haven fell narrowly in all three sets, and had its best statistical match of the weekend.

The Haven fought back and closed out the first set of the match with 24 points, before following with a 21-point match in the second.

Irons led the way on offense with 11 kills, while also adding 11 digs on defense.

Gaston dished out 19 helpers and Avery Nicholson and Natalie Acevedo provided solid defense, finishing with eight and seven digs, respectively.

NEXT UP

The Haven hits the road for its final non-conference tune-up on Saturday (Sept. 21), before returning to Lock Haven for its home opener on Homecoming Weekend when the Bald Eagles host Bloomsburg on Friday night (Sept. 27).
