‘Booked’ for the rest of the week – Ross Library Book Sale kicks off in Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN – Several dozen people were waiting in a line that stretched into the parking lot Tuesday evening as the Annie Halenbake Ross Library held their semi-annual book sale in Lock Haven.
“We will continue to do two book sales a year; one in March and one in September, but only the September sale will have the $20 advance access ticket/wine and hors d’oeuvres offering,” Tammy Garrison, Library Executive Director said.
People were seen loading up bags, bins, milk crates, and boxes with their favorite titles, new reads, music, and movies to watch and help them survive the upcoming winter months.
“It’s fun to look,” library patron Jim Dolan told The Record. “I brought my pal Dave Liddick with me and we both have empty backpacks ready to fill with knowledge.”
A special letter was sent to Jared Conti, the lucky purchaser of the first ticket for the book sale pre-sale event.
“We look forward to seeing you at the book sale preview night! It’s sure to be a fun time. Enjoy the casual shopping, the wine and the refreshments and the company of other book lovers! Your gift is much appreciated. Please visit us often and join us for a few of our programs this year – we would love to see you!” the letter said, along with a personalized “you got the first ticket!” message.
“I was delighted to receive the thank you letter from Tammy for my ticket purchase,” Conti said, “I feel double-honored now to be the first ticket buyer and that it’s all going to a great cause, our local library.”
It’s never too early to start your Christmas shopping so head down to the now semi-annual Ross Library Book Sale at 232 West Main Street in Lock Haven.
The book sale officially opens to the public Wednesday morning and runs through Saturday. Book sale days and hours are below.
