Bulldogs Romp Rival Seals, 55-21

Week three of the 2024 high school schedule for Jersey Shore brought annual rival Selinsgrove to Thompson Street Stadium for the first PHAC (Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference) game of the season for both teams.

Selinsgrove came in at 1-1 after a road loss to ranked Twin Valley 40-10 while Shore started its tough schedule at 2-0 after a hard fought 14-10 win at home over 5 A Delaware Valley.

The Seals started the game on a positive note on the offensive side of the football putting together a game opening drive that ended with an Ethan Miller 2 yard rush (Walter PAT) and Selinsgrove lead with 6:47 to go in the first quarter, 7-0

Jersey Shore answered late in the first quarter with Brodie Herr capping off a nice drive (Herr PAT); Bulldogs tied the game at 7-7

The Bulldogs took the lead late in the first quarter (27.6 seconds remaining) on an Elijah Jordan 1 yard run set up by a Carson Watkins catch. The Herr PAT made the score 14-7.

The next Shore score was set up by a great Evan Snyder punt return to the Selinsgrove 14 yard line.  On the next play, Jordan made a great cut and bolted up the middle to score.  The PAT was missed and the lead was 20-7.

The Bulldogs kept up its positive offensive output with another score on a 12 yard pass from Jordan to Snyder at the 3:16 mark of the second quarter.  Jordan added the 2 point conversion run.  The Bulldogs increased its lead to 28 to 7.

With one opportunity to score in the first half, Shore had to start the drive from its own 8 yard line.  A pass from Jordan to Watkins on a third gave the Bulldogs life and the drive was capped by great pitch and run by Paul Hale to the left end zone corner.  Just before the half Shore extended the lead to 35-7 (Herr PAT).

Elijah Jordan added to the Shore lead at the 6:45 mark of the third quarter on a 35 yard pass to Carson Watkins (Herr PAT) extended the lead to 42-7

Selinsgrove added its second score of the game after recovering a Shore fumble on an Amato to Gavin Bastion 41 yard pass play; with 3:03 remaining in the third quarter. (Walter PAT); the score narrowed to Jersey Shore 42-14.

The teams younger players both added scores late in the game including Nolan Pauling on a 1 yard run for the Bulldogs,  The touchdown was set up by a Pauling to Carter Rhinehart pass; PAT missed Jersey Shore led 48-14

Gesumaria scored on a 79 yard run for the Seals; Walter PAT and the score was 48-21.

Pauling added another Shore score on a 31 yard run at the 2:16 mark to bring the final score to 54-21 (Herr PAT).

Jersey Shore improves to 3-0 (1-0 PHAC Division I) and will host Shamokin (3-0) next week while Selinsgrove drops to 1-2 and will host Central Mountain.
