Sockman comes from behind to keep Bucktail tennis perfect
By Bees O’Brien
MUNCY- Bucktail’s Mid Penn Conference schedule began on Tuesday with a challenging road trip to Muncy. The Lady Indians would prove to be a tall order and the Lady Bucks would need a huge win from their top singles player in Eva Sockman.
With the match knotted 2-2 and Sockman dropping her first set to Muncy’s Leah Vest 6-4, it looked as though the visiting squad would go down. Sockman would battle back strong and win the next two sets 6-1 and 6-2. Her win would put Bucktail at 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Sockman wasn’t the only Bucktail player picking up victories. Equally important was Kendall Wagner’s dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Taylor Shannon.
Rookie doubles team of Lola English and Matti Mason continued to show their strengths by downing Muncy’s Brie Myers and Hailey Green 7-6, 6-4.
Bucktail will next be in action on Thursday in their Mid Penn Conference home opener against a solid Montgomery squad.
