Coudersport’s Wright bombs past Bucktail in 42-20 win for Falcons

FARWELL- Coudersport quarterback John Wright didn’t take long to expose the Bucktail secondary on Friday night. The Falcons’ senior would blister the Bucks’ defense for 208 yards through the air and four touchdowns on an incredible 8 of 9 attempts.

Wright would strike quickly on a 36-yard strike to Jackson Moss to take a quick 8-0 lead following a two-point try. Coudersport would show no mercy on the smaller Bucks.

The Falcons would attempt and recover an onsides kick on the ensuing kickoff attempt. Wright would then connect with Danny Vanvladricken with 6:26 remaining in the first to take a 14-0 lead.

Coudersport continued to come at Bucktail with another long pass play. Running back Ethan Ott came out of the backfield and grabbed a Wright pass and score 43 yards out to take a 20-0 Coudersport lead.

Ott would hurt the Bucks on the ground in the second quarter by scoring from 38 yards out and building a 30-0 lead.

Bucktail would finally get on the board when senior star Brody Pentz would orchestrate a drive in the second quarter. With 2:02 remaining in the half, Pentz would score on a six yard run to help the Bucks momentarily avoid the mercy rule.

Coudersport had one mission on Friday evening and that was make a statement against Bucktail. The Falcons were still fuming following their 50-28 week one loss to Otto-Eldred and Ethan Ott’s five-yard score with 44 seconds remaining in the half proved that.

The Falcons up 42-6 would actually try another on sides kick in an attempt to punch another score in heading to the break. Bucktail would recover the attempt.

The Bucks would play much better in the second half, mainly the fourth quarter.

Pentz would connect with senior Gavin Yachymiak on a 9 yard scoring strike and convert the try for two by hitting Yachymiak.

Bucktail trailed 42-14 when Stephen Heiser would make a huge catch for a 20-yard gain, which would set up his own scoring run from2 yards out with 1:34 remaining in the game and end the scoring.

Heiser had a great effort for the Bucks. He would snag 3 catches for 39 yards and gained 9 yards and a score on the ground.

Pentz led Bucktail with 82 yards on 10 carries and a score. He also passed for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Aiden Ditty hauled in a 39-yard completion and Yachymiak finished with a pair of catches and a score. Freshman Teagan Stone continued to play a solid receiving game by catching 2 passes for 38 yards.

Bucktail, now 0-2 will have a much needed bye week and will host Region 3 leaders Otto-Eldred on September 13 in Farwell. The Terrors downed Sheffield 44-6 tonight to move to 2-0.
