Bulldogs Hang on for 14-10 Win over Delaware Valley

By Doug Byerly

The Jersey Shore Bulldogs got a scintillating win in Week #1 on the road vs the Dallas Mountaineers coming back from 14 points down late in the game to win 28-21.  The winning score came on an 11 yard completion from Elijah Jordan to Trent Sererino with 43 seconds remaining in the game.

The Bulldogs took an early lead  on its first offensive possession when Brodie Herr broke free on a 40 yard run (Herr PAT) to lead 7-0.
DelVal responded later in the first quarter with a 5 play drive highlighted by a 40+ pitch and catch pass play to the Shore 7 yard line and was able to convert a few plays later on a 1 yard QB sneak (PAT) to tie the ballgame at 7-7.
The Warriors continued its solid offensive play and took the lead midway through the second quarter capping off a 10 play drive with a 27 yard field goal by Regan Decker to make the score 10-7 Del Valley.
Jersey Shore came right back and regained the lead on a 5 play drive with the score coming on a highlight worthy run after catch by Evan Snyder.  Snyder made the catch from Jordan, spun away from a defender and then broke another tackle on a 43 yard play for the touchdown (Herr PAT). Jersey Shore regained the lead at 14-10.
Both team’s defenses settled in for the remainder of the first half and after the break.
Elijah Jordan came up with an interception 9:37  of the 3rd quarter but the Shore offense was stopped and later on Del Val blocked a Bulldog punt, but neither team was able to convert the turnovers into points.
With the game result still in question Del Val took over to start the final quarter but the Shore defense forced a fumble which was recovered by Elijah Jordan to stop the drive at the 8:45 mark remaining in the game
Del Valley again took over after an interception by Colin McGarvey with just over 3:45 to go and put together a solid 16 play drive.  A sack by the Shore defense and a final incompletion on the final play resulted in the Bulldogs held to improve to 2-0.
Evan Snyder led the way for Shore offensively with 12 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown and also had an interception.
DelVal has a home game in week #3 vs 6A Central York to try to get their first win.  Shore returns to Thompson Street Stadium to face rival Selinsgrove next Friday with a regular kickoff time of 7 PM
