Kepner Rebounds for Win at Clinton County
Dale Schweikart and Kruz Kepner started on the front row for the start of the RaceSaver 25 lap main event, which would also determine the 2024 Speedway Championship. Schweikart took the lead at the drop of the green flag. On lap number three the caution came out for Ian Cummens, who spun in turn four. Schweikart was leading, Kepner, Matt Tebbs, John Walp, and John Scarborough. On lap number six, Kepner passed Schweikart for the lead and behand to pull away from the field. Tebbs challenged Schweikart for numerous laps and took the second postion away on lap number nine. Tebbs, who was a championship contender, began to chase down Kepner. On lap number 14, Tebbs took over the top postion, with Kepner, Scarborough, Schweikart and Walp in the top five.On lap 20, the top five remained unchanged, but were navigating through lapped traffic. On lap number 22, Kepner rebounded to the top of the order making a pass on Tebbs for the lead. Kepner led the final four laps for the win. Tebbs finished second, Scarborough, Schweikart and Walp finished in the top five. Mikey Smith was the hard charger coming from 16th to finish 6th. Seventh through tenth were Wyatt Walizer, Dustin Young, Austin Reed, and Josh Beamer. Heat races were won by Kepner, Young, Owen Dimm, and Austin Reed. Jared Zionkowski won the B-Main. Reed won the championship over Matt Tebbs.
Tyler Clowes, who started sixth, had the lead as the field came out of turn four on the first lap. Nathan Bacon moved into the second spot by the completion of lap number five with Denny Rinehimer, Jeffrey Weaver, and Mac Wert running in the top five. Mac Wert and Logan Hammaker battled for a top five postion, with each of them swapping that postion several times. Clowes led every lap and finished 1.486 seconds in front of Bacon, Weaver, Reinheimer, and Wert. Sixth through tenth were Cory Stabley, Logan Hammaker, Jillian Maurer, Coleton Eckroth, and Hunter Zimmerman. Heats were won by Clowes, Weaver and Wert.
Larry Beachel Jr. led the first two laps of the 4 Cylinder feature. Kyler Stahl took the lead on lap number three, with Zak Kline and Beachel in the top three. By the midway point of the race, Stahl was being challenged by Kline and Beachel. Stahl led the remaining laps to claim his the victory over Kline, Beachel, Shawn Stahl, and Coty Maines. Heat races were won by Kline and Matt Weaver
The Clinton County Speedway returns this Friday for the final points event of the season. The Limited Late Models, Pro Stocks 270 Micros and Four Cylinders are on the card.
