Bucktail Tennis Reloads For 2024
By Bees O’Brien
FARWELL- After 18 seasons under the helm of coaching Bucktail tennis, coaches Alison and Dan Heiser have seen plenty of obstacles thrown their way.
The start of 2024 would see another challenge right out of the gate. The loss of three seniors in the Lady Bucks’ starting singles lineup and another key player from their doubles lineup left plenty of holes, but fear not as help has arrived.
Athletically gifted senior Matti Mason and equally gifted junior Lola English decided to join the Bucktail netters for the first time this season.
Freshmen Carrie Ditty, Emma Gentzyel, Iris Moore and Rebecca Conway are also on board for the first time.
Returning starters Eva Sockman, Kendall Wagner and McKenna Bissman are also returning. All three juniors will be competing in their third season. Riley Salzzoni is back for her second season.
The Lady Bucks went 14-2 a season ago before dropping their PIAA District IV 2A quarterfinal match to Central Columbia.
Bucktail will once again be looking for district success, but with the likes of Central Columbia, Jersey Shore and Mid Penn rivals South Williamsport within the district it will be challenging.
Bucktail was set to open their season on Tuesday when they were to host South Williamsport in a Mid Penn clash.
The Lady Bucks schedule features conference opponents South Williamsport, Muncy, Montgomery, St John Neumann and multiple NTL squads such as Towanda, NP-Liberty, Wellsboro, Cowanesque Valley and Galeton.
On October 2 Bucktail will travel to Central Mountain to meet the Lady Wildcats in Mill Hall. Match time is set for 4pm.
