Your Noon-ish update on roads, events, waterways around Clinton County and beyond
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – As the remnants of Hurricane Debby, now downgraded to a tropical rainstorm, begin to make their march out of the Clinton County area, showers will continue to linger into the early and mid-afternoon Friday.
Here is what we know county-wide from social media for your noon-ish update:
- The Facebook Group Route 120 road conditions has been updated and people posting have been extra vigilant at alerting motorists of the happenings along the “Going to Renovo Road.” Various trees, wires, and large boulders have come down, blocking the roadways and making certain spots impassable. As of 12 PM the road is clear from Lock Haven to Renovo. Remember: the ground can shift at any time as it becomes unstable both now and in the coming hours as water begins to seep through the ground, weakening spots along the road.
- Also along Route 120, look out for possible downed wires and collapsing roads especially from Westport through to the Keating area.
- The intersection of Fairpoint and Lusk Run Road by Bald Eagle Township building is currently flooded. Drivers are urged to turn your headlights on and rather than attempt a crossing, turn around and go another way.
- Parts of King Arthur Drive behind Variety Buffet along Hogan Boulevard are under 12″ or more of water. Bald Eagle Township will be installing barricades to keep motorists out of the area until the water recedes.
- There are reports of a car hydroplaning and in a ditch in Bald Eagle Township.
- Reports are coming in that along Farrandsville Road to Queen’s Run is a lot of debris along the roadway. Please exercise caution.
- Outside of Clinton County, in Emporium, much of the downtown is under a few inches of water. Pictures posted to social media show at least four inches of water marching downtown.
- Nearby in Medix, the Quehanna Highway is flooded and debris is beginning to build up along the road. Some low-lying homes were observed having been flooded half-way up.
Local event updates:
- LH JAMS downtown Lock Haven Block Party is “rain or shine” Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. If the threat of rain persists, performers and drinks will be indoors at Susquehanna Events Center, formerly Lock Haven Elks Lodge. Regardless if the events are indoor or outdoors, bring your own chair.
- Clinton County Speedway has rescheduled their Pack The Track Night event to Friday, August 23. Saturday’s races are still a “go” with the Phil Walter Classic for 410 Springs, Legends, and 4-cylinders. Gates open at 4 p.m.
