J.J. Peters Disposal Inc. Announces Buy-Out of L.W. Peters Disposal

Legacy Continues: One Family’s Timeless Business Passes to Another

By Autumn Gavlock
MILL HALL – On Thursday, June 20, 2024, J.J. Peters Disposal Inc. finalized its acquisition of L.W. Peters Disposal, officially establishing itself as the new proprietor of the business. This transition marks a new chapter for J.J. Peters Disposal, owned and operated by Bruce Peters, John Peters, and Kyle Peters, who are eager to embark on this exciting new venture.

With a rich history spanning over 60 years in Clinton County and surrounding areas, J.J. Peters Disposal has been a family-run business since 1957, spanning four generations. Founded by John Jack Peters, the company has built a reputation for reliability and service.

As part of the acquisition, some small changes are to be expected, though the commitment to high-quality service remains unchanged.

The primary office and headquarters will now be located at 76 Pennsylvania Ave, Mill Hall, PA 17751. The Lock Haven office located at 212 James St. Lock Haven, PA 17745 will transition to a Payment Drop Box location with no active secretary by the end of next week.

In addition to the office relocation, please note that checks should now be made payable to J.J. Peters Disposal Inc. A grace period will be provided for payments made payable to the old name. Regarding payments, J.J. Peters Disposal Inc. will be implementing new payment processing technology, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2024. This upgrade will allow customers to make secure online payments, improving both convenience and service quality.

J.J. Peters Disposal Inc. will continue to provide its Residential, Commercial, and Roll-off services, and is introducing an additional feature: Toter cans—a specialized waste container designed for efficient emptying into larger collection vehicles. This addition aims to improve both customer and employee experiences.

Customers should expect minor adjustments to route pickup times and dates. Those affected will be notified in advance to ensure a smooth transition. Importantly, pricing, service quality, and employee expectations will remain unchanged. Bruce Peters confirmed that all 11 former employees of L.W. Peters have been retained, and two new hires have been added, ensuring continuity during the transition. With a total of 19 employees and opportunities for future expansion, applications for new positions are being accepted at the Mill Hall office.

Kyle Peters, owner of J.J. Peters Disposal, shared his enthusiasm in an interview with The Record: “We have been blessed with this opportunity to be able to acquire the legacy of L.W. Peters Disposal, this is something we have been working on for several months and are more than excited for this opportunity and we look forward to continuing to provide our community with the service that they deserve for many more years to come”
