Keystone 9-11’s keep rolling at state tournament

ATHENS- Keystone 9-11’s needed some extra baseball on Wednesday night, but they would manage to fight off a strong effort from Newtown Edgemont to advance in the state tournament with a 4-2 win in 8 innings.

Newtown opened up the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning and would build a 2-0 lead over Keystone in the bottom of the third inning.

Keystone would fight back with runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie things up at 2-2.

Keystone would hold Newtown scoreless over the final 5 innings of play. Keystone’s go ahead runs would come in the top of the fourth inning and another single run in their half of the fifth inning to advance.

Keystone pounded out 8 hits, led by Ryker Packech’s three hits. Packech picked up a double on the day. Rylin Bathurst would collect two hits for Keystone. Brooks Warner, Stafford Ley and Hunter Kisko also collected hits for Keystone.

With the win Keystone will now play Friday at 5pm in Athens.
