Loyalsock captures 8-10 District 12 Championship over Keystone 12-2
By Bees O’Brien
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT- Loyalsock pulled off the unthinkable at Volunteer Stadium on Tuesday evening. Loyalsock needed to sweep the previously unbeaten Keystone 8-10’s in two consecutive games and they would do just that.
Keystone owned a previous 9-6 victory in district play over Loyalsock, but Loyalsock’s 6-4 victory on Monday evening secured an “if needed” game against Keystone on Tuesday.
Keystone jumped out to a 2-0 following the top of the first inning, but it would be the last time they would score.
Meanwhile, Loyalsock would score in every inning, which began with a solo first-inning run. Loyalsock then would explode for five runs in their very next at bat. They would then cross five runs in the game’s next two innings.
Up 11-2, Loyalsock would force the 10-run rule in the bottom of the fifth inning by scoring the final run and set the final score at 12-2.
Keystone would manage just 3 hits during the championship contest. Jaxon Orndorf led the way with a pair of singles. Bentley Leone connected on Keystone’s other hit. Both Leone and Callen Bechdel accounted for Keystone’s first inning runs.
Keystone 8-10’s season comes to an end with the loss. Loyalsock will now advance to the Section playoffs.
