IRONMAN 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley raced through Centre, Clinton Counties Sunday morning

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The IRONMAN 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley triathlon stepped off at 7 AM Sunday morning for a thrilling swim, bike ride, and run through beautiful central and north central Pennsylvania. An estimated 2,800 athletes are involved in the races.
Beginning in the lake in Bald Eagle State Park, contestants swam for 1.2 miles in a triangular shape in Foster Joseph Sayers Lake.
After leaving the lake, the athletes left Bald Eagle State Park on a 56-mile bike ride along route 150 to Mill Hall, turning right on route 64, and then following Jacksonville Road to hubler Ridge Road, where they descended into Centre Hall and biked towards Beaver Stadium on the campus of Penn State University.
From there, they transitioned into the running portion of the race running 13.1 miles through campus, around campus, and then back to Beaver Stadium to the 50-yard line.
At 12:30 PM the temperature was 83 degrees with a real feel of 84, with possible storms looming on the horizon.
Athletes had 8 hours and 30 minutes to complete the race after the last person entered the water at Bald Eagle State Park.
