Keystone 9-11s Dominate South Williamsport in District 12 Championship
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – The Keystone 9-11 baseball team claimed a decisive victory over South Williamsport in the District 12 Championship game on Sunday at Volunteer Stadium. Despite weather-related delays that moved the game from Saturday to Sunday and delayed play on Sunday due to lightning, Keystone emerged victorious with a commanding 16-7 final score.
Manager Jason Markle’s team delivered an solid performance, highlighted by strong hitting and standout plays. Adam Meyer drove in four runs on four hits, playing a key role in the team’s win. His contributions included a double in the fourth inning that scored three runs and a single in the third inning that added another.
Keystone set the tone early with a triple by Brooks Warner on the sixth pitch of the game, putting them on the board in the top of the first inning. The momentum continued in the second inning scoring two runs. The third inning would see Keystone again add two more run off singles from Brooks Warner and Meyer.
Keystone’s dominance was clear in the fourth inning, where they scored five runs on four hits.
The fifth inning was a repeat of the fourth, with Keystone scoring another five runs on five hits. Hunter Kisko was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. An error, along with singles from Dylan McDermott and Carter Leone, continued to add to the scoreboard.
South Williamsport attempted a comeback in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring five runs on three hits. Easton Y drew a walk, scoring one run, and Aiden J singled, scoring another. An error contributed three more runs, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Carter Leone started on the mound for Keystone, giving up seven hits and four runs over four innings, striking out two. Adam Meyer came in as relief, pitching two innings, allowing two hits, and striking out five.
Keystone tallied an impressive 16 hits in the game. Multiple players, including Hunter Kisko, Dylan McDermott, Ryker Packech, and Brooks Warner, recorded multiple hits, showcasing the team’s depth and offensive power.
With this victory, Keystone 9-11s claim the District 12 Championship and advance to sectionals in Athens, PA starting July 7.
