LOCK HAVEN— The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Shoop’s Charcuterie and Fine Foods was held Friday morning before a group of supporters large enough to fill the new businesses’ headquarters in downtown Lock Haven. Located at 334 East Main Street, Shoop’s Charcuterie officially opened its doors for business on March 19, 2024, and owners Ben Shoop and Dakota Neff have been busy making their hand-crafted charcuterie boards ever since.

Serving up gourmet charcuterie boards that are almost too pretty to eat, Shoop’s Charcuterie offers a variety of cold cuts for events and occasions of all sizes. The charcuterie boards are not only aesthetically pleasing but also made up of high-quality ingredients. Whether you’re looking to grab a bite on the go or are in need of the perfect centerpiece for any social gathering or event, Shoop’s has you covered. Charcuterie boards can be custom-made for any occasion, complete with a delicious selection of fine cheeses, meats, fruits, flavored butter options, and even marinated mushrooms, to name just a few.

City Mayor Joel Long attended the Ribbon-Cutting ceremony and expressed his excitement for the business. “Since 2020, Lock Haven has experienced an awful lot of things, but this is one of the positive things; people got adventurous, and they’re not afraid to try things and bring new things to our downtown,” he said. “I’m excited, and this is fantastic. It’s something new for us to have in Lock Haven.”

Commissioner Angela Harding was also in attendance at the ceremony to provide her congratulations to Ben and Dakota. “Small business and entrepreneurship is the lifeblood of communities like Lock Haven,” she said. “You took a risk to follow your dream and open a small business in Clinton County, and that is what is going to continue to help Clinton County grow. Small businesses are our lifeblood, and we want to thank you.”

Shoop expressed his gratitude to his supporters and those who helped get the charcuterie business set up in its downtown headquarters. “We want to thank the community– for the small amount of time that we’ve been open, you guys have supported us, and it’s been really validating,” he said.

Shoop recounted the journey that led up to the opening of the novel business in downtown Lock Haven. In the early days of the couple’s dates together with their three children, they would go on adventures throughout Pennsylvania, and during one of those trips, they stumbled on a cheese shop in Lititz, which became a source of inspiration. “When we walked inside, I was like, ‘this is what we want– this is what I think our town needs’, and we’re glad to be able to be the ones to be able to give it,” Shoop said.

Shoop thanked his business partner and girlfriend, Dakota, for her dedication to the business and her talent when it comes to designing charcuterie boards, “She’s the artist behind all the boards that you all love.”

Shoop’s Charcuterie invites the community to try out their delightfully adorned charcuterie boards for any size event or occasion. The shop is open Tuesday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 11:00-4:00 p.m.
