South Williamsport’s Pitching Stifles Keystone Seniors in 6-1 Loss
MONTOURSVILLE-In a game that showcased dominant pitching and timely hitting, South Williamsport defeated Keystone Seniors 6-1 on Monday, June 24th in the District 12 Championship game. Despite a valiant effort, Keystone couldn’t overcome South Williamsport’s stellar performance on the mound and their aggressive offensive strategy.
Keystone struggled to generate offense against South Williamsport’s formidable pitching duo. Cole Gerber was particularly effective, delivering 5.2 innings of two-hit ball, allowing just one run while striking out nine. Following Gerber, Mark Molina closed the game with 1.1 innings of hitless relief, striking out two and sealing the victory for South Williamsport.
Keystone’s Hayes Miller provided a glimmer of hope with a hit and an RBI, going 1-for-2 and batting in Dalton McDermott in the sixth inning. Despite this effort, the team struggled to string together any significant offensive threats allowing South Williamsport to capture the District 12 Championship.
On the mound, Keystone’s pitchers faced difficulties containing South Williamsport’s hitters. Aiden Jones started the game, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing two unearned runs. Austin Andrus followed but was unable to stop South Williamsport’s momentum, giving up three hits and two runs. Darius Shade and Layden Bryan tried to stem the tide, but the damage was already done. In total, Keystone’s pitchers allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and five walks.
With the win South Williamsport will continue to move on in post season action capturing the District 12 Championship.
