LOCK HAVEN – Despite the sweltering heatwave, Clinton County Camp Cadet is well underway this week on the campus of Commonwealth University – Lock Haven.
During a special announcement Wednesday afternoon, Former Camp Director Charles Shoemaker thanked the Clinton County Community Foundation for their generous donations over the years.
“Since the program started we’ve had about 3,000 boys and girls graduate from Camp Cadet,” Shoemaker said in his speech to the group of current cadets, camp staff, and the press. “It takes a lot of money, between $25,000 and $30,000 to put on the camp every year, so we submit a lot of grant applications to organizations to gather sponsors, and we also react out to other sponsors and rely on the generosity of the public to put this on.”
One thing that has held constant has been the unwavering support of the Clinton County Community Foundation who in total has donated over $155,000 since 1993.
“They have been a great supporter and a backbone to our financing of the organization,” Shoemaker said.
Dennis Trout, Foundation President was on hand to hand Shoemaker “the giant check” for $8,000.
Not one for words, Trout declined speaking to the group regarding the donation.
