Helping Out ‘One Family at a Time’

LOCK HAVEN — We’d all like to be good neighbors.

It will be an easy goal to meet during the week of June 24 to 28, in the “One Family at a Time” hometown mission project. Covenant United Methodist Church at 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, is organizing everything for you. All the planning, logistics, even lunches, are provided.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up.

The organizers also want to hear from anyone in need of helping hands anywhere in Clinton County — they’re talking to you, Renovo, Loganton, Lock Haven, and all local communities. You may request small home repairs or fence painting, yard work, house cleaning, power washing.

Nonprofits and local businesses that need some gentle sprucing up of their storefronts are also invited to apply.
Organizers will visit and look over each request, then send out the volunteers Monday through Friday, June 24 to 28.

Last year, more than 60 people turned out and helped 14 families, accomplishing projects that included demolishing and removing a garage. But you don’t have to have building skills to reach out.

“If you want to be a part of it, we will find something you can help with,” Pastor Justin Frear said.

Work requests are already coming in, according to Sherry Wilson who is spearheading the project.

“I’d love to have more projects to do than we already have,” Wilson said. “We also have a good core group of volunteers, but we sure could use more.”

To volunteer, request help, or ask questions, call 570-748-6481 and leave a message, or send an email to covenantumc@susumc.org.
