Two Lady Phoenix Head to Regionals

MILTON-The next step for the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School girls in their quest to earn a trip to the PIAA Girls State Wrestling Championships, makes a stop at the Central Regional Championships to be held this Saturday at the Milton High School Gym. 

Senior Emma Downing (12-12) at 142 pounds and freshman Marrin Chester (12-9) at 235 pounds will be representing the Lady Phoenix in hopes to continue on to the Hershey Giant Center for the March 7,8,9 Girls State Tournament. 

In the opening round, District 4 runner-up Emma Downing of the Lady Phoenix will face District 5/6/9 fourth place finisher Tessa Queen (Jr, 21-12) of Curwensville in the opening round. In the quarterfinals the winner will face District 2 runner-up Samantha Monroe (Sr, 10-4) of Delaware Valley at 142 pounds. 

The Lady Phoenix Marrin Chester, who was the District 4 runner-up, will meet District 5/6/9 fourth place finisher Taylor Shirey (Fr, 1-5) of Curwensville in the opening round. In the 235 pound quarterfinals the winner will meet District 2 runner-up Zoey Lake (Sr, 16-6) of Wallenpaupack. 

Locally there are some other local ladies head to Milton, as trio of Lady Bulldogs from Jersey Shore will also be there, as junior Olivia Spotts (14-4) at 136 pounds, freshman Isabella Gotschall (14-3) at 190 pounds and junior Addison Dangle (10-5) at 148 pounds are representing the Lady Bulldogs. 

The Lady Bulldogs Olivia Spotts (14-4) was the District 4 third place finisher at 136 pounds and she will meet District 2 third place finisher Lynzee Buglio (Jr, 14-9) of Hazelton in the opening round. In the championship quarterfinals the winner will square off against District 5/6/9 champion Jordyn Fouse (Jr, 29-1) of Bishop McCort. 

Lady Bulldog Isabella Gotschall (14-3) was the 190 pound District 4 champion and the freshman will face the winner of District 2 third place finisher Tati Campbell-Algermon (Jr, 5-4) and District 5/6/9 third place finisher Keyanna Schinmp (Jr, 8-7) of Redbank Valley in the championship quarterfinals. 

There is a trio of Lady Eagles from Bald Eagle Area competing as well, as junior Eden Eveleth (19-5) at 106 pounds, senior Angelina Grieb (9-2) at 148 pounds and junior Grace Crestani (16-10) at 190 pounds will be joining all the local girls in hoping to earn a ticket to the PIAA State Tournament 

The Lady Eagles junior Eden Eveleth (19-5) was the District 5/6/9 third place finisher at 106 pounds and she will face off with District 5/6/9 fifth place finisher Hailey Logue (So, 2-2) of Bellwood-Antis in the first round. They did not meet in last week’s district tournament, but the winner will go on to face District 4 champion Sadie Wagner (Fr, 18-8) of Montgomery in the quarterfinals. 

District 5/6/9 champion Angelina Grieb (9-2) has a first round bye and then in the 148 pound quarterfinals the Lady Eagle senior will meet the winner of District 4 runner-up Addison Dangle (10-5) of Jersey Shore.and District 5/6/9 six place finisher Natalie Troup (So, 2-14) of Redbank Valley. 

The at 190 pounds, Lady Eagle junior Grace Crestani (16-10) had a bye in the opening round and in the quarterfinals the District 5/6/9 runner-up will face District 5/6/9 fifth place finisher Callie Cella (6-11) of Central Mountain, as the Lady Wildcat sophomore drew a first round bye as well. 

Action gets underway Saturday at 9:00 am at the Milton High School Gym and the top four place finishers will earn their tickets to the PIAA State Championships on March 7,8.9 at the Hershey Giant Center.
