LHU’s Gable Strickland named MAC East Wrestler of the Week

CLEVELAND – Competing Sunday (Feb. 25) at George Mason’s Patriot Last Chance tournament, No. 32 Gable Strickland (Benton, Pa./Benton) led the way for the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team. Today (Tuesday, Feb. 27), he was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division Wrestler of the Week.

Strickland was a perfect 3-0 on the day at 133 pounds with two pins. He pinned Nathaniel Shippey of VMI in 2:38 to open the day and made it back-to-back pins with a fall over Maryland’s Conner Quinn in 6:04. Strickland won by medical forfeit in his third bout of the day.

In all, four different Bald Eagle wrestlers have accounted for seven MAC Eastern Division Wrestler of the Week awards this season.
