Lady Wildcats drop Senior Night heartbreaker to Milton 40-39

MILL HALL- Keely Rohrbach and Morgan Temple entered the Central Mountain gym for the final time on Thursday evening in hopes that their Senior Night would result in a victory for the Lady Wildcats. Opposing Milton had other plans and would cash in on their 1-point first half lead to break Central Mountain’s hearts in a narrow 40-39 Lady Black Panther victory.

Central Mountain took a commanding 10-5 lead after one quarter, but Milton’s deciding 14-8 second quarter would give them the slim 19-18 lead and that would prove to be a costly 1 point for the Lady Wildcats.

Central Mountain and Milton would play even in the second half. Tying 7-7 in the third quarter and also deadlocked 14-14 in the fourth quarter to set the final score.

Rohrbach finished her senior night with 6 points. Lena Walker led Central Mountain with 15 points. Taylor Doyle would finish with 8 points for the Lady Wildcats.

Addison Wenzel led Milton with 17 points, while teammate Abby Kitchen netted 12 in the win.

Milton finishes the regular season with a 12-10 record and will be the 5 seed in the upcoming District IV 4A playoffs and will travel to Lewisburg (12-9) in the quarterfinals.

Central Mountain fell to 9-11 on the season.

The Central Mountain JV team won 31-18.

Also during Senior Night manager Sara Houbracken was recognized who is an exchange student from Belgium.
