Hoy scores 27, but Millionaires edge Wildcats 67-63

By Bees O’Brien

MILL HALL- For the second contest in a row, Central Mountain’s boys squad would fall short in a comeback effort at home against 6A Williamsport, 67-63.

Williamsport would build a 42-29 halftime lead, but CM would stiffen up their defense in the second half and nearly battle back. A 34-25 second half effort by Central wouldn’t be enough to overcome the Millionaires’ lead.

Williamsport would have four players reach double figures led by Johnson’s 24 points. Holt would add 15 points, while Takach and Washington would finish with 10 each for the now 7-13 Millionaires. Williamsport is currently fighting for a home court spot in the PIAA District 4/2 6A subregional playoffs.

Hunter Hoy led Central Mountain with 27 points. Caleb Mahoney would score 11 points and Xavier Persun would finish with 9 points.

With the loss it’s becoming clearer that Central Mountain will possibly be hitting the road for the District 6/4 5A subregional playoffs and will meet Hollidaysburg (17-4). District deadlines for final games are set for Saturday with the playoff pairings coming out on Sunday.
