By Bees O’Brien

FARWELL- Bucktail made huge strides in locking up a home court District IV playoff game on Monday night in their dominating 60-17 win over Columbia Montour VoTech.

The Lady Bucks controlled the game from the very tip and never let up against a young Lady Rams’ squad. It would be the Wagner sisters Kendall and Mak doing the damage in the scoring column and a dominating inside game on the boards from Kendall Wagner, Eva Sockman and Alexis Lowery. Wagner, Sockman and Lowery each would grab 11 rebounds, part of a 44-rebound night for Bucktail.

Bucktail used a 10-2 first quarter and a 19-8 second quarter to build a comfortable 29-10 lead at the break. The big lead allowed head coach Suellen Wagner to give her jv players Riley Salizzoni and Ariana Winkleman plenty of valuable varsity time.

Both would produce for Bucktail too. Winkleman would grab a defensive rebound and Salizzoni would net 4 points. 8 different Bucktail players would score on the night.

Bucktail’s 31-7 second half would set the final, which including Bucktail holding CMVT (0-20) scoreless in the final frame.

Kendall Wagner led Bucktail with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Mak Wagner finished with 13 points. Matti Mason would score 8 points. Eva Sockman finished with 6 points to go with her 11 rebounds and Lowery would score 5 points to go with her 11 rebounds

Haley Fisher would lead the Lady Rams by scoring 15 of their 17 points.

Bucktail improves to 12-9 and can wrap up a home court game when they meet the team that is trailing them in the current standings. Millville (10-10) has already wrapped up the Mid Penn Conference East Division title and will be looking to jump Bucktail in the standings following their clash in Farwell on Wednesday. That game will follow Bucktail’s boys team, who host CMVT at 4:30.
