LHU Men’s Basketball keeps pace at top of PSAC standings, downs Kutztown at home
LOCK HAVEN – Isaiah Stewart (Madison, Wisc./Madison La Follette) knocked down six of the Lock Haven men’s basketball team’s game-high 11 three-pointers to lead the Bald Eagles to an 80-64 victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest on Wednesday night (Feb. 7).
After falling last Wednesday to halt a 10-game win streak, the Bald Eagles (15-6 overall) have now won two in a row to keep pace at the top of the PSAC East and remain in second with an impressive 13-3 conference mark.
The Haven also improves to 8-1 at home and has not lost in Thomas Fieldhouse since Dec. 2.
Kutztown falls to 3-19 overall and 2-14 in conference.
The scoring came down to the battle from behind-the-arch as the Bald Eagles knocked down a game-high 11 trifectas, while limiting the Golden Bears to 33 percent (6-of-18) on triples.
The Bald Eagles held the Golden Bears to 38 percent shooting from the floor, while shooting a cool 52 percent (32-of-62) for the game.
The Haven blocked a game-high 12 shots while only getting blocked once.
The Bald Eagles led by as much as 17 in the game and knocked down seven three-pointers in the second half to pull away from Kutztown.
Stewart drilled 6-of-8 shots from deep on his way to 20 points to go with four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Justice Shoats (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) scored over 20 points for the seventh straight game behind a game-high 24 points on an efficient 10-of-16 shooting. Shoats added a game-high six assists, while tying for the game-high in blocks with four.
Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) matched Shoats’ four blocks, while knocking down two trifectas for a total of 10 points. Harward added six rebounds.
Jalen Gorham (York, Pa./MacDuffie School) chipped in nine points, including an emphatic all-oop slam to start the second half and pulled in eight rebounds.
Collin Jones (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led the second unit with six points and eight rebounds.
