Walker, Doyle power Central Mountain past Selinsgrove 54-28

MILL HALL- With just under two weeks remaining until playoff pairings are announced, two District 4/6 5A Subregional playoff teams clashed in Mill Hall on Monday night. Central Mountain Lady Wildcats currently hold the three spot, with their opponents Selinsgrove holding the fourth spot.

Neither team is in contention for hosting a playoff game, but both were looking to build momentum entering the postseason.

Central Mountain opened up the game strong with a 10-4 first quarter edge on the Lady Seals.

This was a rematch of Selinsgrove’s 49-47 win on Friday night, but this game never seemed to be similar to the first meeting between the two. CM’s 14-13 second quarter advantage made that apparent.

Up 24-13 at halftime, the Lady Wildcats would be on cruise control despite Selinsgrove’s late third quarter rally to cut it to a 10-point margin. Three-point baskets from Camdyn Weaver and Lena Walker would quickly extinguish the Lady Seals rally, however.

Central Mountain’s 30-18 second half would wrap up a big victory for the now 8-10 Lady Wildcats.

Selinsgrove dropped to 5-16, but still hold the fourth and final playoff spot in 5A.

Taylor Doyle once again led Central Mountain. Her 18-point effort included three from beyond the arc. Lena Walker finished strong with 14 points and Camdyn Weaver added 9 points.

Natalie Howell led the Lady Seals with 9 points.

Central Mountain will hit the road Tuesday to square off against Mifflin County.
