Seals down Wildcats 62-55
MILL HALL – Central Mountain was seeking a win on their home court Friday night when Selinsgrove came to town. The Wildcats had fallen to Selinsgrove earlier this month, losing 62-51. Before the game, the Seals held the number 2 spot in the Heartland I conference, while the Wildcats were at number 3. Despite a late fourth-quarter run, the Wildcats fell to the Seals 62-55.
Both teams raced off from the start, and after one quarter of play, the game was tied 16-16. The Seals’ offense would spread the score out by halftime, leading by 10 at 35-25. After the half, the Seals continued to put up points, outscoring Central Mountain 19-11. The Wildcats wouldn’t give up and came close with a fourth-quarter rally, outscoring the Seals 19-8. The final score favored Selinsgrove at 62-55.
Selinsgrove’s Ries Naugle demonstrated why he averages 21.2 points per game, being almost unstoppable in the paint and scoring 29 for the Seals.
Hunter Hoy led Central Mountain with 18 points, while Caleb Mahoney contributed 11 points, and Brady Myers scored 10 in the loss.
With the loss, Central Mountain moves to 12-7 for the season, while Selinsgrove improves to 13-4. Up next, Central Mountain will travel to Lewisburg on Friday before hosting Chestnut Ridge next Saturday for Senior Night.
