LHU Women’s Cross Country lands academic team honors, five athletes named to individual All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday (Feb. 1), the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its All-Academic Team and individual lists and the Lock Haven women’s cross country team received team honors, while five student-athletes were honored with individual All-Academic awards.

Individually, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Ella Andrew (Exploratory Studies), Elaina Klinger (Health Sciences, Health Education), Gwen Lloyd (Early Childhood Education), Kiersten Lloyd (Secondary Education – Biology) and Aubrey Sechrist (Health & Physical Education) each earned All-Academic individual honors from the USTFCCCA.

Both Klinger (2nd) and Andrew (30th) raced to All-PSAC honors at the conference championships.

Klinger followed with an impressive race at the Atlantic Region Championships, where she finished in third out of 172 runners to earn a trip to the DII NCAA Championships in Missouri, where she would finish as the 69th runner in the country.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

As a team, the Bald Eagles were host to both the PSAC and Atlantic Region Championships, at their home West Branch Cross Country Course. Lock Haven placed seventh of 21 at the PSAC Championships.
