CM Lady Wildcats give Jersey Shore a fight in Mill Hall
By Bees O’Brien
MILL HALL- On paper Central Mountain’s Lady Wildcats appeared to be heavy underdogs entering their PHAC-1 rematch with district powers Jersey Shore. The Lady Bulldogs already owned a commanding 52-28 win over Central Mountain earlier this season, but coach Scott Baker’s squad came to fight on Wednesday night at home.
Shore appeared to control the game early following a 14-7 lead after one quarter. Central Mountain’s 10-7 second quarter would narrow the Lady Bulldogs’ lead to 21-17 at the break.
Jersey Shore’s overall talent would play a big factor in the third quarter. Peyton Dincher and Jocelyn McCracken would power the Lady Bulldogs to a big and deciding 23-8 third quarter advantage. Dincher would score 10 points in the quarter, while McCracken added 8 points.
The Lady Wildcats would continue their surge in the fourth by outscoring Shore 12-6, but it wouldn’t be enough on this night.
Taylor Doyle’s 15 points help keep the Lady Wildcats in the game. Ava Doyle added 7 points and Camdyn Weaver netted 6 points for the now 7-9 Lady Wildcats. Central Mountain will next be in action on Friday when they travel to Selinsgrove.
Dincher led Jersey Shore with 23 points. Cailynn Schall added 12 points, with McCracken finishing with 10 points.
Jersey Shore took the JV game 35-33.
