Wagner scores 29 as Lady Bucks close in on home playoff game with 55-36 win

CURWENSVILLE- It was a long trip for the Lady Bucks on Monday night. The reward for the trip was a 2A victory over winless Curwensville, 55-36.

The win over the Lady Golden Tide would improve Bucktail’s lead on the fourth and final home playoff quarterfinal game. The Lady Bucks currently hold down that spot, but Juniata Christian (6-7) and Millville (7-9) are right on the heels of the 8-7 Lady Bucks.

After a 14-14 first quarter, Bucktail would begin to heat up and take advantage of the 0-16 hosts. A 31-9 middle quarter advantage would be the deciding factor. A 45-23 margin heading into the fourth and final stanza would be too hard for the District 9 foe to come back from.

Curwensville fought hard until the end by outscoring the Lady Bucks 13-8 to set the final.

Mak Wagner led all scorers with 29 points for Bucktail Wagner also connected on 5 three-point baskets. Kendall Wagner would score 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Alexis Lowery would net 6 points and also collect 9 rebounds.

Bucktail will next face Muncy (8-7) on Wednesday, which promises to be a challenge. Bucktail has now won 5 of their last 6 games, with their only loss being to top ranked Meadowbrook Christian during that stretch.
