Top ranked Shamokin downs Wildcats 83-44
By Bees O’Brien
MILL HALL- Shamokin is a very good basketball team. The Indians entered their contest at Central Mountain with a 13-4 record and are currently the top ranked team in District IV 4A. Shamokin doesn’t have a single senior on their roster, which is trouble for the rest of the PHAC in future seasons.
Junior Joe Hile is a big reason for the Indians success. Hile would torch the Wildcats for 32 points and his third quarter three-point basket would give him his 1,000th career point.
Shamokin opened up the game on a 19-11 run. CM failed to find an answer to Hile and the rest of the Shamokin depth. Shamokin’s 20-15 second quarter would give the Indians a 39-26 lead at the break.
It would be Shamokin’s 18-8 third quarter advantage that would put the finishing touches on the Wildcats. Shamokin was far from done.
A 26-10 final quarter advantage from the Indians would set the final.
Hunter Hoy led Central Mountain with 11 points.
Central Mountain (10-6) will now square off against Mid Penn Conference East leaders St. John Neumann (9-6) in Mill Hall on Monday when Messiah Baldwin Tyrick Moy and the rest of the Golden Knights and their high-octane offense comes to town.
