LHU Men’s Basketball wins PSAC East clash, extends win streak

LOCK HAVEN. – The Lock Haven men’s basketball team extended its win streak to seven games with a hard-fought, 89-78, victory over Mansfield (6-11, 4-8 PSAC) tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 25) at home in a midweek Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division clash.

With the win, Lock Haven improved to 11-5 overall behind the Bald Eagles seventh straight victory. The Haven is now 9-2 in PSAC play and sits in a tie for first atop the Eastern Division standings. Lock Haven is now 5-0 vs. PSAC East opponents and 6-1 at home on the season.

The game was tied 61-61 with just over seven minutes to play, but the Bald Eagles stepped up down the stretch, thanks to clutch-shooting and timely defense.

For Lock Haven, it was balanced scoring that led the way. Four players scored in double-figures including Justice Shoats (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) who netted a game-high 22 points.

Bryson Scott (Dacula, Ga./Penfield) scored 15 points, Collin Jones (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) netted 11 and Dyllon Scott (Dacula, Ga./Penfield) added 10.

The Bald Eagles benefitted from 40 total points off the bench tonight.

Jalen Gorham (York, Pa./MacDuffie School) and Dyson Harward (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) each scored seven points, and Isaiah Stewart (Madison, Wisc./Madison La Follette) netted eight points in the win.

Gorham added a career-high 12 rebounds and Scott chipped in with five boards.

Shoats continues to do it all and he finished with two rebounds, two steals and six assists to go along with his huge scoring night.

Gorham, Harward and D. Scott combined for six of Lock Haven’s eight blocks as each had two in the win.

The Bald Eagles shot 50 percent from the field and 79 percent from the charity stripe (21-27). The strong outing at the line helped secure the win late. For the game, Lock Haven knocked down eight 3’s.
