LHU’s Robinson wins fifth PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week this season
LOCK HAVEN– Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) of the Lock Haven women’s basketball team was honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the fifth time this season as the Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, announced on Tuesday (Jan. 16).
Robinson has brought home five of the seven defensive honors that have been awarded so far this season.
Robinson led the Bald Eagles to their program-tying 13th straight victory on Wednesday, as Lock Haven downed Kutztown 64-49 on the road.
The sophomore was once again a force on the defensive end as she plucked three steals and blocked three shots. Robinson’s 36 blocks this season lead the PSAC by 11, while her 27 steals rank seventh in the conference.
Robinson now has 89 blocks in her career in just two seasons, sitting seven away from tying the program record.
Also a major force on the offensive end, Robinson scored 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting, while pulling in seven rebounds, dishing out three assists. She also shot an efficient 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
With the victory, the Bald Eagles match the 1984-85 squad for the longest winning streak in program history. Lock Haven has not lost since the season opener against the No. 9 team in the country, Fairmont State.
Lock Haven is now 13-1 overall and 8-0 in the PSAC, sitting four games ahead of the second-place team. The Haven also improves to 6-0 on the road.
The Bald Eagles moved up one spot to No. 4 in the D2CSC Atlantic Region rankings, announced yesterday.
