Casey campaign announces a $3.6 million haul in fourth quarter fundraising

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) raised more than $3.6 million in the fourth quarter, his campaign announced, which included over 59,000 contributions from more than 36,000 donors. Detailed campaign financial reports from the Federal Election Commission were not yet available, but according to the campaign, 92% of Casey’s fourth-quarter contributions were under $100.
The tally is more than the $3.2 million Casey raised in the third quarter of 2023, which was slightly down from his personal best of $4 million in Q2 of 2023. As of October 2023, Casey’s campaign had $7.4 million cash on hand.
“Pennsylvanians are rallying behind Senator Casey’s message to lower costs for families, stand up to China, and fight for workers because he’s delivering on them,” Tiernan Donohue, Casey’s campaign manager, said in a press release. “Now Pennsylvanians are sending Bob Casey into the election year with growing momentum and support that will carry him to re-election in one of the most competitive races in the country.”
Casey’s likely Republican opponent David McCormick reported Monday that his campaign raised $6.4 million in the fourth quarter, including $1 million of his own money.
According to a Quinnipiac University poll released this week, Casey leads McCormick 53% to 43%. The closely-watched Pennsylvania Senate race, which could affect the balance of power between Democrats and Republicans, has been rated “lean Democrat” by Cook Political Report in its latest rankings. Democrats hold a 51-49 majority in the Senate.
McCormick is considered the frontrunner for the Republican Party nomination for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat, with no credible primary challengers yet announced for either candidate.
It’s expected to be one of the most expensive Senate races in history.
