Fantaski drops 26 on Austin in Bucktail’s 46-34 road victory

AUSTIN- Braylon Fantaski would continue having the hot hand for Bucktail in their Monday night road trip to District 9 Austin. The Panthers, who are coached by 1997 Bucktail graduate Jon Ogden came ready to play.
Austin’s Dawson Hooftallen connected on back-to-back layups to give the Panthers an early 6-3 lead.
Fantaski would drill his second three-point basket of the night to knot things up at 6-6 with 1:50 remaining in the first quarter, but Austin’s Brennan Ogden and Brayden Stuckey would connect on baskets to build the home squad’s lead to 10-6 after one quarter.
Fantaski would continue to power Bucktail’s offense in the second quarter by netting 8 points, part of a big 18-6 second quarter run by the Bucks.
Bucktail’s 24-16 lead at the break wouldn’t grow after a 7-7 third quarter. A 15-11 final frame would set the final score.
Bucktail’s all-around effort came into play in the game’s final two quarters of play.
Fantaski would find Johnny Green open for a three-point shot and then an offensive putback from Green would begin to set the stage.
Brody Pentz, who had a quiet game offensively would give Bucktail their largest lead at 39-26 with just 4:21 remaining in the contest. Fantaski’s sixth three-point bucket of the night would expand the Bucks’ lead to 42-26, essentially icing the victory for Bucktail.
Pentz would finish with 10 points and collected his eighth double-double of the season with another 27-rebound night. Fantaski would lead all scorers with 26 points.
Hooftallen would lead Austin (1-9) with 18 points.
Bucktail (6-4) continued their climb up the District IV 1A standings and will look to improve on their current fourth spot when they host Columbia Montour Vo-Tech (1-9) on Friday.
