LHU’s Robinson earns fourth PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN – For the fourth time this season, Lock Haven women’s basketball sophomore Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon (Jan. 8).

Robinson has brought home four of the six defensive honors that have been awarded so far this season.

Robinson led the Bald Eagles to a 3-0 record (Dec. 30-Jan. 6), with victories over Slippery Rock, Clarion and #21 West Chester.

In their PSAC East opener against West Chester, the Bald Eagles knocked off their second nationally-ranked opponent of the season.

Robinson ignited the come-from-behind victory over West Chester, helping the Bald Eagles overcome a 13-point first half deficit with her defense.

The sophomore finished with four blocks and four steals to go with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Robinson kicked off her dominating week by leading the Bald Eagles to their 11th straight victory by defeating Clarion on the road. Robinson dropped 24 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting, while blocking two shots and plucking a steal. The impressive stat line came in just 22 minutes of action.

On Dec. 30, Robinson led the Bald Eagles to a 50-49 overtime victory over Slippery Rock, where she blocked seven shots, plucked two steals to go with a 20-point, 10 rebound double-double. Robinson also finished a perfect 8-of-8 at the foul line.

Robinson’s efforts also helped the Bald Eagles secure a perfect 6-0 record against the Western Division this season.

Robinson leads the PSAC in blocked shots with 33, which is 13 more than the next highest player.

The Bald Eagles (12-1, 7-0 PSAC) are just one victory away from tying the program record for consecutive wins set in 1984-85 when The Haven went on a stretch of 13 straight.

The 7-0 start in PSAC play is the best in program history. Lock Haven moves three games ahead the second-place team in the East.
