Downtown Rotary remembers veterans

At the former Susque-View are, from left, in front: Wendy Doherty, resident Frank Lapriola who holds a gift bag for the photo, Capt. Terry Banfill of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, veteran Ben Shady, and Janine Bruno; and in back, Reza and Marianne Lotfi, and Carmen Banfill.
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Ben Shady, seated at right, was one of the veterans who received a holiday bag of little gifts like candy, a puzzle book, a handkerchief, and toiletries from the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven. The club gave close to 40 bags to veterans and others in local homes including Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living (Susque-View), Haven Place, Fulmer’s Personal Care Home, and Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home.
This tradition of remembering veterans at holiday time started with the late Dr. Betty Schantz. Her fellow Rotarians now continue it in her memory.
Rotarians who filled gift bags for veterans included, from left, Carmen Banfill, Bonnie Hannis, and Susan Packer. For information about Rotary and how to join, email the club at dlhrotary@gmail.com.
