HARRISBURG – Excitement is building for the upcoming 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show which will take place from Saturday, January 6 to Saturday, January 13 in Harrisburg. This year’s show will highlight the best of dairy farming from Clinton, Juniata, Mifflin, and Huntingdon Counties, featuring cows from each of these farms in the highly-anticipated “Calving Corner” exhibit.
Visitors of the Pennsylvania Farm Show are in for a special treat at the Calving Corner, which is part of the “Destination Dairy” Northeast Exhibit Hall. This one-of-a-kind exhibit has become a must-see for Farm Show attendees, as it allows them to witness the birthing process of dairy cows up close and personal. The exhibit will have dairy farmers and volunteers on hand to educate and answer questions about where our milk and dairy products come from while visitors get to experience the awe-inspiring miracle of life at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center.
Along with the Calving Corner, visitors can also enjoy a variety of engaging and educational activities at the interactive family-friendly learning stations. These stations offer hands-on experiences related to dairy nutrition, animal care, shopping locally, and more.
Clinton County residents who attend the Farm Show can expect to see cows from a neighboring dairy farm this year. Schrack Farms, a modern dairy farm located in Loganton, will be participating in the Calving Corner at the 2024 PA Farm Show. They will feature their cows at the Calving Corner to calve on-site during the Farm Show so that visitors can witness the dairy birthing process; a unique event not to be missed!
Schrack Farms was founded in 1773, and is currently operated by the 10th, 11th, and 12th generations of the Schrack family: Kevin Schrack, Jim and Lisa (Schrack) Harbach, and their family.
In Pennsylvania, there are over 5,000 dairy farm families, with 99% of all dairy farms in the state being family-owned. Pennsylvania is also home to nearly 40 dairy processing companies along with a diverse range of small dairy creameries and artisan cheese makers.
Schrack Farms relies on a valuable team of employees to properly care for each of their 1,400 cows. A noteworthy twenty employees of Schrack Farms are also members of their own family. Lehigh Valley Milk and Land O’Lakes butter are two dairy products made by Schrack Farms, which Clinton County residents are likely to be familiar with, or even have in their refrigerators.
The Schrack family farm is not only providing all the crops needed to feed their cows, but they are also paving the way for future generations of the Schrack family by utilizing modern environmental and sustainable technologies, ensuring that the farm will continue to operate with healthy and high-quality land.
Be sure to stop by “Destination Dairy” in the Northeast Hall to experience the Calving Corner exhibit at the 2024 Pennsylvania Farm Show and show support for one of Clinton County’s dairy farms.
