Winter in the Woods at Dunkled Acres Returns for a Magical Holiday Shopping Experience

By Emily Wright
JERSEY SHORE, PA — Dunkled Acres will host its Winter in the Woods Christmas shopping event during the last two weekends of November. The event, located at 1009 First Fork Road in Jersey Shore, is about eight miles north heading towards Salladasburg. Winter in The Woods is scheduled for Friday through Sunday on the weekends of November 17-19 and November 24-26, offering a festive shopping experience from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the six-day, two-weekend event.

This one-of-a-kind shopping extravaganza takes place in a cozy and festive all-season venue that features locally handcrafted products, goods, and gifts that will suit all of your holiday decorating and gift-giving needs. New and returning vendors have been working hard to stock the barn with high-quality items for patrons to browse through and shop.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make appearances during the event on Saturday the 18th and 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the cottage behind the barn for anyone wanting to get photos with the pair.

Julie and Mike Geyer orchestrate Winter in the Woods at Dunkled Acres, which is equipped to host weddings and other special events year-round. Despite having weddings booked as far ahead as 2025, the Geyers set aside time to organize this unique holiday shopping experience.

Winter in the Woods began in 2016 out of a desire to offer holiday shopping that exclusively offers items from local crafters, bakers, and other small businesses. “We wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase their items here,” Julie told The Record. “It’s really to promote small local business and crafters as well as provide a unique experience for the community.”

Visitors can expect a cozy holiday atmosphere complete with festive lights strung from the rafters and Christmas music playing in the background, accompanied by the smell of freshly roasted nuts and caramel corn made on-site. The venue, an expansive barn, is equipped with space heaters to ensure comfort regardless of the weather.

Winter in the Woods will feature 45 vendors offering a wide variety of hand-crafted items to browse through. During this year’s shopping event, visitors will also be given the opportunity to win door prizes. Upon entry, adult patrons will receive a ticket that enters them into the door prize drawings.

A few of the vendors this year include “Alex & Jack Company” by Taylor Martin, offering hand-poured soy wax candles, and Shauna Dantonio-Fisher, selling handcrafted jewelry. “From the Farm” by Esther Perry, will be offering lotions made with goat milk, and Lori Rinehart will have her handmade quilts and other fabric items available for purchase. For those with a sweet tooth, NannyCakes Bakery will have decorated sugar cookies and freeze-dried candy. “The Nut Ladies” will be roasting cinnamon-glazed almonds, pecans, and cashews in addition to caramel corn, and “Simply Savor on the Fly” of Williamsport will have fresh-baked cookies. Additional vendors will be offering a variety of artwork, decor, spice rubs, cheese, jewelry, and much more.

In addition to a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Winter in the Woods will also feature kid-friendly activities this year. Christina Smith, who was crowned the 2023 Clinton County Fair Queen, will be present each weekend to coordinate children’s activities.
