Jersey Shore caps undefeated regular season with 62-0 win over Wildcats

JERSEY SHORE, PA – In the final week of the 2023 regular season, Central Mountain made the 15-mile trip via Rt. 220 to take on their closest geographic rival in the Bulldogs of Jersey Shore.

The Wildcats came into the game at 3-6 and off their most impressive win, 42-0 over Midd-West.  Jersey Shore came in at 8-0-1 and was looking to complete its fourth straight regular season without a loss and to earn a share of the PHAC (PA Heartland Athletic Conference), Division I (large school) title. The Bulldogs have defeated CM in 10 consecutive years with the last Wildcats win coming in 2012. They did it again Friday night with a decisive 62-0 win.

On the next Jersey Shore drive, the Bulldogs converted on a 3rd and 9 on a Jerrin Loomis to Ashton Sweeley pitch and catch that took the ball to the 1 yard line.  Tate Sechrist took it in the final yard on the next play and at the 6:23 mark; the Bulldogs led 14-0. (Herr PAT)

On the first play of the next Bulldog drive, Tate Sechrist bolted through the line to sprint for 56 yards to extend the lead.  The score took place at the 4:32 mark (Herr PAT) 21-0 Jersey Shore.

The scoring continued for the Bulldogs in the first quarter with Payton Samar taking a swing pass, breaking a tackle and running 45 yards to the end zone at the 1:36 mark, still in the first quarter (Herr PAT), the Jersey Shore lead was extended to 28-0.

The second quarter started the same for the Bulldogs with Elijah Jordan scampering on second and long to the 6 and then taking it in on the next play to take the lead to 35-0 (Herr PAT).

Loomis added a 9-yard touchdown on a nice QB keeper at 8:07 of the second quarter (Herr PAT), the Bulldog lead was extended to 42-0.

The Bulldogs were not done scoring in the first half with Brodie Herr capping off a short drive with a 9-yard burst.  The touchdown was set up by a scintillating rush by Tate Seachrist.  The Bulldogs led 49-0. At half

The Bulldogs added to the score with a 30 yard Tate Sechrist sprint straight up the middle at 11:14 of the 4th (PAT missed); the Jersey Shore lead was extended to 55-0.

Paul Hale capped off the scoring on the night with a 9-yard burst at 5:31 remaining in the game (Evan Snyder PAT); the scoring ended with the final in the contest at 62-0.

With the homecoming festivities win, the Bulldogs ended the regular season at 9-0-1.  The team will host the Black Panthers of Milton (9-1) in the first round of the District 4 4A playoff next week.

Central Mountain falls to 3-7 with the loss but will play in the District 6 5A playoffs on the road vs Hollidaysburg (4-5).
