Bucktail doubles teams both go 1-1 in District 4 Tournament

WILLIAMSPORT, PA- Bucktail recently concluded their 2023 tennis season at the annual PIAA District 4 2A Doubles Championship Tournament. The Lady Bucks would enter a pair of teams, both reaching the round of 16 before being eliminated.

The senior duo of Alexis Lowery and Mak Wagner would go 1-1 on the day. They would pick up an opening round win over Montgomery’s Reynolds and Hall by a 6-2, 6-2 score. They would then fall in the next round to Central Columbia’s Claudia Brindisi and Rihanna Baker 6-2, 6-3.

Central Columbia was the team that eliminated Bucktail from district playoffs last week.

Bucktail’s other doubles team of Gigi Balchun and Eva Sockman would also go 1-1. They would defeat Lewisburg’s Jiang and Weis 6-2, 6-1 before being downed by Danville’s Josie Bendle and Mehak Kotru. Bendle and Kotru entered the tournament as the number four seeds.

Round of 32 Teams:
Alexis Lowery/ Makenzie Wagner (B) def. Reynolds / Hall (Montgomery). 6-2, 6-2

Gigi Balchun/ Eva Sockman (B) def. Jiang / Weis (Lewisburg) 6-2, 6-1

2nd Round of 16 Teams:
Claudia Brindisi/ Rihanna Baker (Central Columbia) def. Alexis Lowery/ Makenzie Wagner (B) 6-2, 6-3

Josie Bendle/ Mehak Kotru (#4 Seed Danville) def. Gigi Balchun/ Eva Sockman (B) 6-1, 6-1
