Central Columbia ends Bucktail’s tennis season 3-0 in district quarterfinals

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – In a Wednesday match moved up a day and from Farwell to Williamsport saw the Central Columbia Lady Blue Jays knock off Bucktail 3-0 in the PIAA District 4 2A tennis playoffs.
Bucktail started off their 2023 season strong by winning 14 straight matches before dropping their final three contests. All three losses were to teams, South Williamsport twice and Central Columbia, that still remain alive in the district playoffs.
It was the second straight season that a Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference team ended the Lady Bucks’ season.
South Williamsport, the Mid Penn Conference champions remained alive following a quarterfinal 3-1 win over Bloomsburg. The Lady Mounties will now meet Jersey Shore in the semifinals.
The Lady Dogs made quick work of Danville 3-1 to advance and will now meet South on October 17.
The other quarterfinal contest of the day would see Hughesville down Lewisburg 3-0. The Lady Spartans will now meet Central Columbia in the October 17 semifinal contest. Hughesville accounted for both Central losses in the regular season.
Bucktail finished 2023 with a 14-3 record. Box score stats were not available for The Record.
