LH Klinger’s individual title powers Women’s Cross Country to victory
BLOOMSBURG, PA – Elaina Klinger (Riverside, Pa./Danville) shined once again and her individual title helped power the Lock Haven women’s cross country team to the team title at today’s (Saturday, Oct. 7) Bloomsburg Invitational.
Klinger covered the 6K course in 22:10.5 and topped the 108-runner field. Her win helped The Haven women best the 11-team field with a 42-point effort.
Host Bloomsburg was second with 66 points and Kutztown was third with 70 points.
The Haven women entered the weekend ranked No. 6 in the Atlantic Region and today’s meet provided the Bald Eagles a preview of the course that will host the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Oct. 21.
Krista Jones (Friendsville, Pa./Elk Lake) was fourth overall in 23:45.6 and her effort played a huge role in the team title.
Gwen Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) cracked the top-10 with a seventh-place showing of 23:58.9.
Aubrey Sechrist (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) and Megan Lysek-Hagy (Pennridge, Pa./Pennridge) rounded out Lock Haven’s brilliant top-five effort today. Sechrist was 14th in 24:22.0 and Lysek-Hagy was 16th in 24:27.1.
