Two Clinton County projects among recipients in state Recreation and Conservation grants

BETHLEHEM, PA – Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn recently announced a $52.5 million investment for more than 225 recreation and conservation projects across Pennsylvania that will create new recreational opportunities, conserve natural resources, and help revitalize local communities.

There are two Clinton County grants, both in Castanea Township:

$70,000, rehabilitation and further development of Harvey’s Run Park in Castanea. Work is to include construction of a pedestrian walkway and parking area; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing and fencing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

$172,000, development of a portion of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail in Castanea. Work is to include construction of approximately 0.11 miles of trail from Jarrett Avenue to Logan Avenue; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

Overall, investments are being made in a variety of proposals, including: 23 trail projects; protecting nearly 6,835 acres of open space; 13 projects for river conservation; 13 community and watershed forestry projects; and 99 projects to develop or rehabilitate recreation, park and conservation areas and facilities. DCNR recently announced nearly $1.4 million in funding for 10 ATV and snowmobile facilities and trails projects.
