Lock Haven man injured in Chapman Township ATV accident

CHAPMAN TOWNSHIP, PA – Renovo police last Saturday evening investigated a motor vehicle crash in the 700 block of Summerson Mountain Road in Chapman Township, the accident resulting in serious injuries to the operator.

Police said the investigation showed that 64 year old Charles Stern of Lock Haven was driving a Polaris ATV/side-by-side southbound on Summerson Mountain Road when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway.

The vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway, ran over an embankment and overturned back on the roadway.

Police said Stern was transported by ambulance to UPMC-Williamsport, and later transferred to Geisinger Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Stern was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The ATV was towed from the scene by Martin Motors. Chapman Township and South Renovo Fire Departments, and Bucktail Medical Center Ambulance, also responded to the scene.
