Brief “shelter in place” at Central Mountain High School

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – There was a brief “shelter in place” at Central Mountain High School Wednesday afternoon, but it was lifted shortly after imposition.

Keystone Central School District superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin shared this message with the news media:

Around 1:30 pm we were notified  of a potentially dangerous situation off school property but near the CMHS campus. Out of caution, Principal Verrelli called for a “shelter in place” at 1:33 pm.

A few minutes later we were notified by the PA State Police that the area had been secured and there was no longer a safety concern and the shelter in place was lifted.

There was no immediate information from state police on the nature of the nearby incident.
