Central Mountain musicians with a busy December

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Multiple musicians from the Central Mountain High School and Central Mountain Middle School have had a busy December, providing holiday music at multiple venues across the community.
On Dec. 8, a select group of middle school 7th and 8th grade orchestra students traveled to Lock Haven to play some Christmas music for members of the community. Sarah Long, Sophia Corrales, Logan Hanna, Erin Thompson, Tyce Greenwood, and Joseph Long played O Come All Ye Faithful, The Holly and the Ivy, and Silent Night for members of the Lock Haven Kiwanis Club before traveling to Central Mountain High School to rehearse for the Dec. 14 combined winter concert with the CMHS Orchestra.
On Dec. 10, several of these same CMMS students joined the Central Mountain Jazz Cats for a lively evening of holiday tunes at Lock Haven’s Triangle Park Christmas Tree Lighting Festival. Instrumental music instructor Ashley Crust said The Jazz Cats always look forward to attending the Tree Lighting Festival and providing musical entertainment as the community celebrates the season with refreshments, photos with Santa, and the lighting of the tree.
On Dec. 13, the Jazz Cats performed in the Central Mountain Bands’ Winter Concert, where a number of CMMS students played improvised solos in a fun chart called Funky Ol’ St. Nick. CMMS soloists included Sarah Long, Kathryn Farrall, Joseph Long, and Tucker Taylor. The CMMS 7th and 8th Grade Band was also featured in the Dec. 13 concert, playing songs for both the Christmas and Chanukah holidays.
Director Crust said, “As you can see, the CMMS instrumental musicians have been busy lately! We close out this hectic season with a two-performance field trip on Wednesday, Dec. 21, which includes stops at Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home and Bucktail Medical Center.”
