LHU: Women’s Basketball Caps Weekend at Atlantic Regional Challenge
GREENSBURG, PA – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team (0-2) capped the final day of the 2022 Atlantic Regional Challenge hosted by Seton Hill with a contest against Virginia State (1-1). The Trojans took the Sunday afternoon matchup 58-49.
Lock Haven came out strong in the first half on the defensive side of the ball. They allowed only 11 points in the opening quarter as the Bald Eagles employed a full court press. The Bald Eagles led 15-11 at the end of the quarter and held a 26-19 lead at the halftime break. The Haven defense grabbed four steals in the opening half and looked poised to carry the team to the win.
Trailing by six heading into the fourth, the Trojans completed the comeback with a 25-10 fourth quarter to propel them home with the 58-49 matchup.
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) led the way for Lock Haven with 11 points. Adaliz Corbin (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) matched the team-high in points with 11 of her own.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and Olivia Smith (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley (Frostburg State)) both finished with nine points each. Fitzmorris added in eight rebounds and a team-high six assists.
On the glass, Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds, and Corbin racked up 10 of her own to record a double-double performance.

The Haven will be on the road again on Wednesday (Nov. 16) when they face off with Frostburg State. That game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
