CM girls’ soccer downed by Tyrone

TYRONE, PA – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcat soccer team traveled on Tuesday to Tyrone for a District 6 matchup. The skies cleared for a bit during the first half when Tyrone struck first, on the way to a 3-0 win for the home team. The Lady Wildcats had some chances but couldn’t get anything to hit the net before half-time.

The second half started with rain and a lot of pressure from the Lady Wildcats. A few opportunities were turned away while the Tyrone keeper made some saves. The field became a little tricky and two goals went past the visiting team, the game was out of reach but the blue and white continued to mount pressure and create opportunities on the home side’s goal. Lily Hendricks, Julia Smith, Traci Thompson and Briley Lewis did what they could to get the ball into the attacking third as much of the second half as possible. The Lady Cats were just a bit unlucky that something didn’t just fall into place and for the ball to hit the back of the net.

Coach Ryan Veltri said, “Continued progress, finding ourselves in the attacking third more often, once we are able to fine tune our chances, we will see lots of girls on the score sheet. The girls put forth great effort and the score sheet does not reflect the true story of the game itself.”
